Intern

Iana Gaytandjieva

Master Degree in Law, Public International Law, University of Groningen, The Netherlands

Period of internship: Oct 01 - Dec 21, 2018

Working for the CSD for three months has been one of the most enriching experiences after having graduated my master studies in law. I worked within the Law Program of the Center, and had the opportunity to carry out a wide range of tasks, with different degrees of responsibility, in topics such as terrorism and organised crime, procedural rights of defendants with psycho-social or intellectual disabilities, and the social effects of isolation on defendants. The work was dynamic, challenged me to learn more, and generally taught me a great deal.

More importantly, I had the chance to work with a diverse group of people with exceptionally high knowledge and experience. Learning from them has been truly invaluable, and perhaps the main thing I will take back from this internship. Everyone was friendly, open, and eager to help your development. I was treated as a member of the team, which gave me a chance to share my own ideas, and I am very happy to have had this opportunity. I wholeheartedly encourage anyone looking to carry out an internship to do so with the CSD.
