Intern

Piero Barlucchi

M.A. in International Relations and Diplomatic Affairs, Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna, Italy

Period of internship: Sep 19 - Dec 18, 2022

During my internship at the CSD Law Program, I had the chance to immerse myself in a stimulating, friendly and competent working environment that put me at ease and fostered my professional and personal growth. These three months flew by like weeks; at the same time, I learnt a lot under the expert and professional supervision of Maria Stoyanova and Iliana Boycheva, whom I mainly assisted with the ARISA Child project and the Foreign Direct Investment Screening policy brief for Bulgaria. My tasks involved conducting research on different topics, comparing the findings, helping in drafting a policy brief and best practices compendium, gathering background data, updating the database with EU calls as well as taking notes, and supporting the organization of events and other minor things. Moreover, I am grateful for this internship since it allowed me to better grasp the various stages of project management, put into practice my knowledge and skills, as well as develop new ones; furthermore, it gave me the feeling of being helpful and making a difference through my work.

Besides, I had the opportunity to discover and travel around Bulgaria and some neighbouring countries, which enriched me and allowed me to break the stereotypes I had unconsciously brought with me on the plane to Sofia; now they have disappeared forever.

I would surely recommend an internship at CSD!
