Biography
Maria Karayotova is an Analyst the Security Program of the Center for the Study of Democracy. Her current work in the area of media focuses on the effects of ownership concentration and lack of transparency on pluralism. She is also working on projects related to anticorruption, border security and organized crime. Prior to joining the CSD team she worked as a senior expert at the Managing Authority of the Operational Programme for Fisheries Sector Development in Bulgaria, where she was involved in the negotiations on the Common Strategic Framework regulations (2014-2020) and gained significant experience in the monitoring and evaluation of projects.
