National Crime Prevention Commission

The National Crime Prevention Commission was set up on 16 June 2005. Its establishment was initiated jointly by the Center for the Study of Democracy and the Ministry of the Interior. The Commission is a public- private partnership that brings together the efforts of law-enforcement agencies, ministries, private sector and civil society in countering crime. It supports initiatives that aim at reducing the impact of crime on society and citizen safety, by facilitating better coordination of the actions of all stakeholders, and by developing new prevention and awareness raising initiatives. The National Crime Survey is among the main tools of the Commission to monitor the crime situation in Bulgaria.
